Lafayette Street Reopens near Library

JACKSON, Tenn. - A downtown street is now open again after being closed for construction and demolition.

According to the City of Jackson Engineering Department, Lafayette Street from the west side of the library to Cumberland Street is now open to thru traffic.

The street had been closed during the demolition of the old First Baptist Church. The building burned down in February.

Following the demolition, the street was also closed for a construction project on a nearby building as well as sidewalk work.
