Lane Professor Waives Right To Preliminary Hearing

DOWNTOWN JACKSON -- An assistant professor at Lane College charged with solicitation of a minor waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Thursday.

Kenneth Andrews, 64, appeared in Jackson City Court this morning and waived his right to a preliminary hearing this morning on the charge. Now his case will be heard by the Madison County grand jury.

Jackson police say Andrews tried to meet a teen he met online at a local drug store on September 25. Instead of meeting the boy, Jackson police met him instead and took him into custody.

Police say Andrews was suspended from his job at Lane College after he was arrested.
