Library program helps the hungry, readers with fines

DOWNTOWN JACKSON -- Now is your chance to pay off that fine and help the hungry.

Food for Fines started on Monday and will last through Aug. 16. Each canned good donated equals $1.00 off the fine. The library says it's their way of helping you while you help others.

"You pay your fine with food so you are doing a little something for the community and we do something for you," Dina Harris with the Jackson-Madison County Library said.

The library does not accept expired or damaged cans. All can goods will be donated to RIFA, and both branches are participating in the program.
