Bicyclists: Remember the rules of the road this summer
NORTH JACKSON -- The warm weather is good news for those craving some time outdoors, but bicyclists looking to hit the pavement have a few extra concerns.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 2 percent of all traffic fatalities involve bicyclists.
Owner of Hub City Bicycle, Adrian Parchman, wants to remind bicyclists of the rules of the road.
"You're basically like any other vehicle out there, you should obey all the stop signs and red lights and any traffic laws that a car obeys, then you should be obeying the same ones."
All bicycle operators under 16 years of age must wear a bicycle helmet. TDOT says all passengers under 40 pounds or 40 inches must be seated and secured in a child restraining seat
