JACKSON, Tenn-Local charities are preparing for the holidays by seeking volunteers. Staff at RIFA and The Salvation Army of Jackson, said the holidays are their peak time for volunteers.

"During the holiday season, we see an influx of volunteers come in our facility to help out," said John Winfree, Volunteer Coordinator for RIFA.

Coordinators say there are many ways to volunteer more than just time.

"Maybe you aren't in a place where you can do anything physically or financially, but we need your prayers and good wishes," said Jayne Brewster, Core Officer at the Salvation Army of Jackson.

The Salvation Army is gearing up for their biggest fundraiser, The Kettle Campaign. A kick-off will be held on Friday, Nov. 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the Old Hickory Mall in front of J.C. Penney's.
