JACKSON, Tenn. - Thanksgiving came early for some West Tennesseans.

The Maranatha Seventh Day Adventist Church off South Royal Street held a free Thanksgiving lunch for the community Sunday morning.

Anyone who did not have a place to celebrate Thanksgiving this year was welcomed to a plate.

Organizers said members of their church cooked and served dishes to give back.

"We have decided that we want to do something for the community to let them know that we love them, and let them know that people care about them," said Pastor Curtis Hall.

Church leaders said their members even picked up several homeless men and women from area shelters in their church van so they too could enjoy the feast.
