Lunsford's Personnel Records Revealed
Ricky Lunsford has been accused by the Jackson Police Department of firing shots at his estranged wife Sunday morning.
7 Eyewitness News wanted to know more about his man who has served his community for more than 30 years with both the Henderson and Madison County Sheriff's Department.
Taking a look at Ricky Lunsford's very long personnel file dating back to 1984 when he was hired as a deputy, paints a very different picture of the man charged with trying to kill his wife.
"Shock and disbelief, alot of us here worked with Ricky over the years, he's outstanding sheriff, good officer, " said Henderson County Sheriff, Brian Duke.
Lunsford was Henderson County sheriff for nearly six years.
"Well liked..a lot of people really liked him as sheriff. He did a lot of good things for the sheriff's department ," said Duke.
During those six years, Sheriff Duke said Lunsford's record was spotless. Lunsford was the Focus of a TBI investigation in 2001, as part of an officer-involved shooting, but was eventually cleared.
"He had access to the file an was obviously kind of the overseer of all the files, " admitted Duke.
A review of Lunsford's personnel record in Madison County, where he served about eight months between 2009 and 2012, showed not write-ups or disciplinary action.
