Madison County Inmate Dies

JACKSON, Tenn.- An inmate at the Madison County Criminal Justice Complex died on Sunday.

On or about October 18, 2013, at approximately 3:30 p.m., inmate Paula Jean Whitman, age 53, of 128 Bowman Road, Medon, TN, was transported by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after having seizures at the jail.

Whitman was admitted into the hospital. She died at 7:00 p.m. on October 20, 2013, of hemorrhage bleeding in the brain.

Paula Jean Whitman was sentenced to 120 days for Driving Under the Influence. Records show Whitman had bee6n jailed since August 23. It was her third DUI offense.

On October 20, 2013, the Honorable Judge Hugh Harvey, Jr. suspended Ms. Whitman’s sentence and released her from our custody at 11:30 a.m.
