Man Accused of Shooting at Teenagers

JACKSON, Tenn. - A Brownsville man is in custody after allegedly shooting at two teenagers.
According to Jackson police, Bobby Avery, 33, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
Authorities were called to Sherwood Lane, Monday around 7:40 p.m. Investigators said a 12-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl were fighting in the area. Then, two 15-year-old step-brothers got involved in the fight to assist their sister. They allegedly assaulted the 14-year-old girl.
Soon after the fight, police said three car loads of people came to the boys’ home on Sherwood Lane and Bobby Avery was among the people in the vehicles. He allegedly assaulted the two boys who then ran from the home.
Avery reportedly returned to his car, chased the boys and began shooting at them. The teens were not injured.
Police made contact with Avery in the area of North Parkway and North Royal Street and arrested him. The gun was not found.
Avery is being held on $75,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court on August 2.
