Man Accused of Shooting his Girlfriend
JACKSON, Tenn. – A Jackson man is behind bars after being accused of shooting his girlfriend, Friday.
According to Jackson police, William Murphy, 20, is charged with aggravated domestic assault.
Investigators said they were called to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital around 7:30 p.m. Friday after a woman arrived with a gunshot wound to the leg.
The woman told officers that she and Murphy, who was her boyfriend, argued at her apartment on Brianfield Drive. Eventually, she claimed the fight became physical and Murphy shot her in the leg.
The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
Murphy is scheduled to be arraigned at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday in Jackson City Court.
