Man Arrested In Park For Soliciting Sex From Minor
EAST JACKSON, Tenn. -- Jackson police have charged a man with soliciting a minor for sex online and sending a sexually explicit image via the Internet.
On Thursday, the police department's Special Investigations Bureau became aware that Herbert Donta Bates, 30, of Jackson solicited a boy for sex online. Investigators also learned that Bates sent the minor a nude image of himself via the Internet.
Bates arranged to meet the minor at Muse Park, located at 1371 N. Parkway. Instead of the minor, investigators went to the park and waited. Bates arrived around 3 p.m. and was taken into custody.
Bates was arraigned at 8 a.m. Friday in Jackson City Court on charges of solicitation of a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor. He was released on $30,000 bond around 1:15 p.m. Friday.
Bates' next scheduled court appearance is 1:30 p.m. Oct. 3 in Jackson City Court.
