Man Charged with Making Meth and Aggravated Child Abuse

DYERSBURG, Tenn.- A Dyersburg father is not only accused of having the ingredients to make meth in a local motel, but putting his one-year-old child in danger by doing so.
According to Dyersburg police, Barrett Long, 30, was arrested, Monday afternoon at the Budget Inn on Highway 51 in Dyersburg.
Officers were responding to a call about a man with a gun, making suicidal threats. They reported finding meth-making ingredients, a handgun and the infant in Long's room. He was arrested on charges of initiate manufacture of methamphetamine, armed in the commission of a dangerous felony, and aggravated child abuse.
Police said Barrett’s child was transported to the Dyersburg Regional Hospital due to the exposure of the dangerous chemicals associated with the active meth lab.
