Man Charged with Assault Enters Plea

A Madison County man accused of assaulting a 13-year-old girl pleaded guilty, Thursday.

Melton Dulin, 48, of Jackson has pleaded guilty to lesser charges of simple assault and chaild abuse and neglect.

Back in December, Dulin was charged with aggravated domestic assault and child abuse and neglect while disciplining his 13-year-old step-granddaughter.

Investigators said the teen suffered injuries to her back, and lower legs in the shape of a belt.

Dulin has been sentenced to 11 months and 29 days of supervised probation. He also had to forfeit his handgun carry permit.
