HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. - A Henderson County man was jailed over the weekend after allegedly stealing from his former residence.

Clifton Burks is charged with two counts of theft in the incident.

According to the property owner, Melva Kelley, Burks was renting a house she owns and moved out recently. Just as a new tenant was moving into the home, investigators believe Burks was able to get back into the house and steal just about everything inside. Some of the items stolen were a clothes dryer, a sofa, curtains, and clothes.

"They came back on a Saturday and they took all her stuff all their stuff, and I had a sectional couch, one rug, a floor lamp," said Kelley.

Kelley said that the next time she rents a home, she'll be more particular about who she lets live in her property.

Burks is free on a $1,000 bond. Most of the stolen items were found and returned to their owners.
