BOLIVAR, Tenn. - Bolivar police say a long standing grudge between two men that started in jail led to the shooting of a Bolivar man, Sunday evening.

Police say the 25-year-old man was shot at point blank range in his side while hanging out with a large group of people outside a duplex in the eastern portion of the city.

The victim was flown to The MED in Memphis and is expected to recover.

Willie Hole says it is time to stop the violence. "Our young generation, they don't realize we're hurting one another," he said. "The environment is getting worst not any better because we have young kids around here and they see all this stuff and that's what they're learning."

In July, a man was shot and killed a block away from the shooting on Johnson Street. "I'm scared for my grand kids around here. There's so much that goes on this one street all the violence happens right over here," said Hole.

Bolivar police arrested Howard Brown, 24, in Hickory Valley after he allegedly ran from the scene. Investigators believe he hid the gun in the woods near the home in Bolivar.

Brown is charged with attempted second degree murder and is being held in the Hardeman County Jail.
