MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. - A weekend motorcycle crash killed a Madison County man over the weekend.

According to the Madison County Sheriff's Department, the crash happened around 5:45 p.m. Saturday in the 3900 block of Christmasville Road.

Officials said the victim was Mark David Gardner, 49.

Investigators believe the victim was traveling south bound on Christmasville Road when he apparently lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle.

The driver of a 2007 Nissan Altima was traveling north bound on Christmasville Road. In an effort to avoid striking the motorcycle, the driver reportedly swerved to the right, leaving the roadway, and ran over Gardner.

Authorities said speed and alcohol were not contributing factors to this accident.
