JACKSON, Tenn.- The Jackson man charged with beating another man to death with a hammer earlier this year, pleaded guilty to the crime.
Rubin Fairfield, 27, entered a guilty plea to charges of second degree murder and tampering with evidence and was sentenced to 35 years without the possibility of parole.
On February 7, Lionel Harris was found lying in the parking lot of a midtown business, bleeding from the head. At first, officers thought he had been shot, but it was determined Fairfield had followed Harris to the bus stop and used a hammer to beat him.
