Former Educator Pleads Guilty to Statutory Rape
DOWNTOWN JACKSON -- Kendall Bell, 25, pleaded guilty Monday to having sex with a 17-year-old Medina girl who was a student where Bell taught school.
Bell pled guilty to two counts of statutory rape in Madison County Circuit Court, Division I. He was sentenced to two years probation on both counts.
Bell's sentences will run consecutively for a total effective of sentence of four years in the Community Corrections Program. Bell must also perform 250 hours of community service work.
On April 10, Jackson police was contacted by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services regarding a child sex abuse complaint.
The investigation revealed that on Feb. 15, the teen traveled to Bell's apartment at Camellia Trace in Jackson. While inside his apartment, Bell had sexual contact with the teen.
On March 22, the teen again traveled to Jackson to see Bell. He then had sexual contact with her inside his truck.
Jackson police arrested Bell on April 19. He was released the following day on $25,000 bond.
In February and March, Bell was a teacher at a Medina school where the girl was a student.
