Man Trapped Under SUV; Escapes with Minor Injuries

7 Eyewitness News Staff

A wreck in north Jackson around 12:15 p.m. along Old Humboldt Road had emergency workers thinking the worst.

A man's SUV had landed on him after he was thrown from the vehicle when it flipped. Emergency workers had to use large air pillows under the hood of the vehicle to stabilize it as they worked to free him.

Underneath the vehicle, which rested on his roof, medics found the man. When it landed, the roof partially collapsed, creating a small crease and that is exactly where the victim was.

Paramedics still took all precautions, including airlifting him from the scene. However, they tell us it appeared he had only broken his leg, a relatively minor injury given the circumstances.

Officers said it appeared the man lost control in the curve just north of University Parkway. No other vehicles were involved.
