MILAN, Tenn. - One West Tennessee school district is hosting a town hall meeting Thursday night to raise awareness about teenagers using drugs and alcohol.

The goal of the Milan Special School District is prevention.

The meeting focuses on how to detect the early warning signs if your child is using drugs or alcohol, how to keep them safe, and what resources are available if you have questions or concerns.

Starting at 5:45 p.m., local counseling agencies, like Youth Villages and Pathways, will have display booths set up to talk to teens and parents.

Richard Barber, with the Aspell Recovery Center, will speak until the panel discussion at 7 p.m. The panel is made up of school officials and officers with Milan and Gibson County law enforcement.

School leaders said the meeting is geared toward students and parents, but anyone in the community can attend.

It will be held in the Milan High School gym.
