CORINTH, Miss. - Two Henderson County men are behind bars, accused of stealing and scrapping cars in three Tennessee counties.

Six cars were allegedly taken from parking lots and people's homes.

"It's kind of worrying to know that someone would come onto your property just uninvited," said car theft victim Brandon Sims.

"It was a work van," said victim Rickey Lanier. "That's where I kept all my tools. I cut yards out of it and stuff, and I hauled my ceramics around in it."

Adam Young and Robert Jackson are in the Alcorn County, Mississippi jail. Each man is charged with six counts of disposing of stolen property. They are suspected of taking the cars to Vanderford Scrap Metals in Corinth.

"(We) caught them in the act trying to sell one," said Investigator Reggie Anderson with the Alcorn County, Miss. Sheriff's Department.

Victims said they are glad the men were caught and are now sitting in jail cells.

"It's very encouraging," said Lanier. "I wish I had a finger in there to really help the prosecution."

Investigators said with so money counts, both men could face serious prison time if convicted.

"Each count carries up to 10 years and/or a $10,000 fine," said Investigator Anderson.

The sheriff's department said there are measures you can take to help yourself out if your car is targeted by thieves.

"One thing I do recommend is keep your VIN numbers on all of your vehicles," said Investigator Anderson. "We take several reports from time to time where the people don't have their VIN numbers handy, so keep your documents up to date."

No bond has been set for the suspects. Investigators said more charges are expected from the counties where the cars were reported missing.
