Milan Man Found Guilty of Aggravated Rape and Other Counts

TRENTON, Tenn. - It was a big victory for some residents in Gibson County Friday, who were victimized by a convicted sex offender nearly a year ago.

They are breathing a sigh of relief, now that the Milan man was found guilty on dozens of counts, including aggravated rape.

Milan residents said they would never think Bryan Williams, 28, would be guilty of raping women, just by looking at him.

"That just goes to show you can never tell by the way somebody looks who they really are, or what they're capable of," an anonymous resident said.

Some residents were afraid to go on camera, since Williams is a convicted sex offender.

Milan Police called him a sexual predator after he allegedly raped two women and tried to rape two more in just four hours last November.

"He's locked up now, so he won't be able to hurt anybody else for awhile," resident Ashley Martin said.

After about three hours of deliberation, a Gibson County jury found Williams guilty of 28 of 30 counts.

He was found not guilty on one rape charge, and not guilty for bringing contraband into the jail.

He was found guilty on counts of aggravated rape, aggravated burglary, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and several other charges.

The judge revoked his bond.

"I'm happy that he was found guilty for it because he deserves to be locked up, and I hope that he stays in there for life. I hope he never gets out again," an anonymous resident said.

Residents told 7 Eyewitness News they are not surprised by the jury's verdict.

"There's no excuse for a man to have to hurt a woman. I mean, that's really uncalled for," Martin said.

They said they feel safer knowing he will likely stay behind bars.

"I will feel a lot safer when I know how long he's going to be behind bars," an anonymous resident said.

Williams' sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 13 at 1 p.m. in Gibson County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors told 7 Eyewitness News it is too early to say how much jail time he could get with so many counts.
