Military Cemetery Planning Continues

Parker's Crossroads, Tenn. - Planning is continuing in the effort to bring a military cemetery to the middle portion of West Tennessee.

The West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery Project Steering Committee met Thursday to discuss the possible sites in Henderson and Madison Counties to develop a 100 acre military cemetery.

Committee leaders say military cemeteries in Memphis and Nashville are becoming crowded, and a new cemetery in this area would be convenient for local veterans.

The steering committee is made up of community members from five West Tennessee counties.

The committee also set up sub-committees to handle finance, strategic planning as well as fund-raising for the cemetery.
