More surgeries ahead for man injured while helping stranded motorist

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The family of the man seriously injured while helping a stranded motorist tells us he is recovering, but has a long road of surgeries ahead.

James Theus Junior's wife told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News he will have another surgery next week in hopes to remove some muscle from his back and transplant it into his leg. His left leg has already been amputated.

On May 29, police say a driver following too closely did not have time to stop when the car in front of it changed lanes. It hit the back of the stranded car, pinning Theus.

The Theus family is asking for community support through prayer.
