Two long-time collegues in the print medium were given a fond farewell and their decades of writing for the Jackson Sun remembered.
A reception was held for Jacque Hillman and Dan Morris, who both recently accepted early retirement from The Sun's parent company, Gannett.
Hillman wrote for the paper for 23 years, focusing primarily on life in West Tennessee. Morris had been with the paper almost 38 years.
His writing spanned from sports columns to in-depth investigations.
"I wanted to convey to them what was going on in their community and tried to do it the best way i could and share insights on people's hearts and their souls and what makes this community important,"
said Jacque Hillman, a Jackson Sun Retiree.
"They worked so well with me and just opened their hearts, you know, to me and told me their stories and golly, that's a quite a privilege and when you can have that type experience, you know, it doesn't get any better than that," said Dan Morris, also retiring from The Jackson Sun.
Both Morris and Hillman were honored Tuesday afternoon with a special front page printed in their honor, each featuring a caricature
by Brian Goins.
