JACKSON, Tenn.- Adult charges have been filed against two Jackson teens accused in the city's 10th murder of the year.
Emanual Beard and Jateryence Smith, both 17, face counts of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault in the August 11 shooting death of Jarvis Vinson along Brianfield Drive.
According to investigators, Smith drove as Beard and a yet-to-be charged adult fired at Vinson and another man as they walked into an apartment.
During the three-hour hearing, an officer told the court, Wednesday seven shell casings and one bullet were recovered from the scene from two different caliber guns.
Judge Christy Little had strong words for the teens as she made her ruling to move their case to adult court.
"All these other big dogs who told you, 'Man, they ain't going to do nothin' to no 18-year-olds and the Vice Lords are going to take care of you.' They're not sitting here and they're running as fast as they can like little punks do," said Madison Co. Juvenile Court Judge Christy Little.
White and Beard remained jail without bond. Their case will now go to the grand jury, which will determine if there is enough evidence to warrant a trial.
Investigators are not releasing the name of the adult linked to the shooting, but said they do know who he is and hoped to arrest him soon.
