NAACP Announces Plans for Freedom Fund Banquet

JACKSON, Tenn.-The Jackson-Madison County Branch of the NAACP announced the details for the Freedom Fund Banquet next month.

The banquet will be held Sunday, May 26 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center at 5:00 p.m.

James Meredith will be the special guest this year.
Meredith was the first black student to attend the University of Mississippi.

"A very iconic man that is closer to 80 years. He has been an iconic figure in the civil rights movement. Those individuals that have fought so hard throughout the south and the nation for equality," said NAACP Branch President Harrell Carter.
