HENDERSON, Tenn. - Instead of honoring veterans for Memorial Day, some are celebrating Memorial May.

"We wanted to bring meaning back to the Memorial Day holiday," said Stephen Holley, co-founder of Carry The Load, an organization dedicated to bringing awareness to veterans.

The organization's national relay unites Americans with walks across the country in honor of fallen soldiers. On Sunday, they walked miles along Highway 100 and ended in Henderson, picking up supporters along the way.

"I just thought it would be a great opportunity to help spread true meaning of Memorial Day," said Noah Melton, who drove from Paris, Tennessee to walk with other veterans.

The relay started on April 30 and will end on Memorial Day in Dallas. So far, the organization has raised more than 800 thousand dollars for non-profit organizations servicing veterans.
