JACKSON, Tenn.- The case of a Jackson man accused in the fatal shooting of an area college student is headed to a Madison County grand jury.

Terence Greer, 25, appeared in city court Thursday and waived his rights to a preliminary hearing. Greer faces a charge of criminally negligent homicide in the shooting death of a 20-year-old Kimberly Lindsay. Friends said Lindsay was a student at Lane College.

Police said the July 26 shooting happened at the La Paree Apartments when Lindsay was play wrestling with Greer on a friend's sofa when she noticed a gun that Greer said he had placed there.

Officers said then he went to move the gun at Lindsay's request, it fired. She was hit in the leg, but the bullet exited her body through her chest.
