A new fire truck will be rolling into Gibson next month.

The Gibson Mayor and Alderman said "Yes" to the volunteer fire department's wish for a new fire truck.

The fire department has been working on their proposal for a month and was relieved and happy find out the good news.

The firefighters are so appreciative that they are willing to give up portions of their paycheck to pay off the big purchase.

"We know and understand the need and we want to show that if the city is willing to help us by allowing us to have these funds that were going to give everything we can back to the city," said Captain Jim Simpson.

Simpson says the new fire truck will help then better serve residents in the area.

Simpson hopes to bring the fire truck to the city of Gibson in July.
