JACKSON, Tenn.- If you have driven by Generals Ballpark lately and have wondered why the lights are on even though the team is not playing, it is because new lights were recently installed at the stadium.

The improved system brings the stadium up to minor league baseball requirements.

But before the first pitch is thrown this season, the lights have to be on for an extended period of time do they begin emitting the correct level of brightness.

Ballpark officials expect the process to be completed by the end of next week.

"It's is a safety precaution for the players and also for the field crew and any other events that we host here at the facility to get the burn time for a little safety precaution," said Kurt Brown of the Jackson Generals.

The Jackson City Council approved the expenditure for the improvements at their November meeting.

Ballpark officials are also working to add ticket windows to the front of the stadium. That work is expected to be completed prior to opening day on April 10.
