New Prescription Drug Drop-off Bin Placed at MCSD

By news@wbbjtv.com

JACKSON, Tenn. - A new secured collection bin has been placed at the Madison County Sheriff’s Office to provide the public with a safe and environmentally responsible method to dispose of unused and unwanted prescription medications.

The collection bin is located inside the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office main building at 546 East College Street. The Sheriff’s Office is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Now, residents will always have an opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted medications without having to wait for the next take back event. The sheriff’s office does not recommend introducing prescription drugs into our water system.

The collection bin was purchased by the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Jackson-Madison County and provided to the Sheriff’s Office as part of their ongoing partnership to address the problem of substance abuse within the Madison County community.
