JACKSON, Tenn. - The wait staff at Sparky's Pizzeria and Grill are ready for the expected increase of hungry customers.

"Anytime we have the ball teams on weekends starting on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday it does make a big impact," said Tony Buchanan, manger of Sparky's.

The restaurant is one of several located near the West Tennessee Health Care Sportsplex. The facility is going on its seventh year and hopes to draw record numbers to the Hub City.

"We had 1,545 travel teams in here last year and it's grown the six years we've been open, so were expecting maybe 1,600 or better," said Ron Barry, Director of West TN Health Care Sportsplex.

Barry said teams from all over the country make there way to the playing fields and become foot traffic for surrounding businesses.

"It's a very valuable resource to the city of Jackson and were grateful to be apart of it . Jackson's been good to us and we enjoy being good for Jackson," said Barry.

The director of the Sportsplex said 225 employees are hired for seasonal work.
