No Arrest in Madison Co.'s First Murder

DENMARK, Tenn.- In Madison County, investigators say they have not made an arrest in the country's first homicide of the year.
Lazar Arnez Smith, 26, was identified by family as the victim in the shooting.
Department officials said the murder is the top crime investigators are working to solve. Investigators have not said if the crime is gang related.
The Jackson man's body was found just before 5:30, Thursday morning, lying near the edge of the road in the 2600 block of Denmark-Jackson Road in West Madison County.
The sheriff said smith had been shot several times, but had no identification on him.
