JACKSON, Tenn.-North Side High School students got a break from their usual dress code, Friday. They were able to wear jeans while helping out their community.

Students could wear jeans to school if they brought three can goods to donate to RIFA. Air Force Junior ROTC student cadets Ashley Weddle, Larculia Moore and Darnisha Williams led a school wide "Can's for Jeans Day" at North Side.

They pursued and received administration approval on their own then did the marketing with the help of fellow classmates and the administration.

"We have to do things like this to show the community that we can help and we are just more than ROTC. We are community, too," said
Darnisha Williams, of the North Side ROTC.

This is the fourth time the high school has served at the RIFA soup kitchen and collected cans. However, this is the first time students led the entire event.
