Northeast Henry Co. Utility District Accused of Improper Billing
WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Staff
HENRY COUNTY, Tenn.-Serious allegations of questionable deals and favoritism have been lodged by state auditors against the Northeast Henry County Utility District in Springville.
The comptroller's office found the utility company installed more than 2,500 feet of new water lines without proper approval or permits from the state, and because of the extensions, the district manger over billed three customers and under billed another.
Investigators also found the utility dug trenches on private property, which was an improper practice and that a utility commissioner financially benefited from the deal.
