Obion County Storms Confirmed as Tornado

OBION COUNTY, Tenn. -- The Paducah National Weather Service has classified Monday's storm in Union City as a tornado.

It is being called at least an EF 2, but could get a higher classification after more investigation.

Obion County Sheriff Jerry Vastbinder said just after 5 o'clock on Monday evening, a strong storm pushed through Obion County and moved northeast to the Kentucky line.

Sheriff Vastbinder said at least five houses are damaged.

At the height of the outages, nearly 1,100 residents were left without power.

Officials say there is a great deal of water damage reported.
