TIPTON, Tenn. - A man in Tipton County was fatally shot by deputies Saturday afternoon.

The Tipton County Sheriff's Office said Jake Murphy was shot and killed during a probation compliance investigation on his family member.

Deputies said Murphy first confronted them with a knife inside the home and fled after being hit with a taser by police.

According to investigators, he came back around the front of the house and said he had a gun and was shot after confronting deputies for a second time.

The Sheriff's Office said no witnesses or law enforcement officers were hurt during the incident. The district attorney's office and TBI are now investigating the case.
