One Arrested, Two Wanted in Home Invasion

MADSION COUNTY, Tenn. – A Jackson man is behind bars after he allegedly stole morphine during a home invasion and tried to sell it.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, John Tyler Dotson, 24, is charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, reckless endangerment, theft of property and possession of schedule II with intent to resale.

Investigators believe Dotson and two other white males kicked open the door to a home in the 500 block of Old Denmark Road, late Tuesday night. The three allegedly began shouting at the resident asking where he kept his morphine.

The thieves reportedly took the victim’s medication, a laptop and a small caliber handgun. One of the men allegedly fired a shot from the stolen handgun into the floor to keep a second man in the home away from them before the trio escaped into the woods.

The two other suspects in the crime are still at large. Anyone with information is asked to call the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit at 731.423.6000 or Crime Stoppers 731.424.8477. The Metro-Narcotics Division is assisting in this investigation.
