One Brother Arraigned on Attempted Murder Charge, Second Brother Held

JACKSON, Tenn. - Antonio "Tony" Byrd now stands accused of attempted second degree murder in connection with a shooting where an infant was shot in the head.

Tony Byrd appeared in Jackson City Court where he was formally charged with two counts of attempted second degree murder, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence. His bond was set at $250,000.

Police believe Tony Byrd fired the shot that ricochet off a door frame and struck a one-year-old boy at The Villages Apartments on Old Hickory Boulevard, Monday night. The child remains hospitalized in Memphis. Investigators said he was listed in critical but stable condition at last check.

Justin Byrd, who was also taken into custody for questioning in the incident, remains in the Madison County Jail on a parole violation charge.
