JACKSON, Tenn- A one-year-old shot in the head at a west Jackson apartment complex has one brother in custody and now the other
in custody as of late Tuesday evening.

Investigators said Tony and Justin Byrd got into an argument with some people who live at The Village Apartments on Old Hickory Boulevard. As they were leaving, one of the brothers is suspected of firing a shot that ricocheted off a door-frame, hitting the child who was in his mother's arms.

"I saw people crying and heard someone say a child was shot," said Audrey Davis, a neighbor.

The getaway car, a red Fiat, was recovered early Tuesday morning on West Park Place. Justin Byrd was later caught and taken into custody. Tony Byrd was arrested in Milan about 8:30 p.m., Tuesday.

The child's mother is not believed to be involved in the dispute that led to the gunfire. The child is in critical but stable condition at a hospital in Memphis.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Jackson Police at (731) 425-8400 or Crimestoppers at (731) 424-TIPS.
