Robbery and Beating Suspects Waive Right To Preliminary Hearing

DOWNTOWN JACKSON, Tenn. -- The pair charged with robbery and beating the owner of Uncle Bubba’s appeared in Madison County General Sessions court Thursday.

According to deputies, Andrew Butler and Joseph Mitchelson both waived their right to a preliminary hearing. This means that his case will be heard by grand jury on January 6, 2014.

Deputies said two men stormed into the store around 4 a.m. on September 18, assaulted the 66-year-old owner of Uncle Bubba's who lives in an apartment in the back of the building, then stole his medicine.

During the robbery, investigators said one of the suspects beat the owner with his own walker.

Butler is being held on $75,000 bond. Mitchelson's bond has been reduced to $35,000.
