JACKSON, Tenn. -- Two teenagers will spend the night in Madison County Detention Center after a botched armed robbery Tuesday morning.

Police say a 16 and 17-year-old opened fire on a man this morning around 7 as they tried to rob him.

The incident happened on the 500 block of Campbell Street.

The 53-year-old victim says the two were standing on a porch and called him over. That's when he noticed the gun.
After seeing the gun, the victim says he turned to run. That's when the pair started firing. Luckily, the man was not hit by gunfire.

The 17-year-old then discarded the gun and both teens went to school.

The two were arrested this afternoon and are being charged with attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.

One of the teens is facing an additional count of tampering with evidence.

The pair will be arraigned tomorrow morning.
