PARIS, Tenn- Police are asking for the help of residents to find the person responsible for vandalizing one of the city's cemeteries.

According to Paris Police, more than $1,500 worth of damage was done after someone knocked down 18 grave markers at Maplewood Cemetery last Monday. Some memorials were more damaged than others.

Residents said besides the monetary damage, something like this has an emotional toll on families.

"People definitely have an attachment to the memorials. I can't imagine what they're going through," said Jay Travis, whose family owns Henry County Monument Works in Paris.

"Whoever is doing it, if it's a bunch of kids, they have no idea the impact it's making on that person or a husband or a wife who comes out every day to sit at that stone," said Travis.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Paris Police Department at (731) 642-2424.
