Police Arrest Suspect in Convenience Store Burglary
JACKSON, Tenn. – Police have arrested a man who they believe broke into the Dodge’s Fried Chicken early Wednesday morning. Investigators said he was caught after a citizen recognized the suspect from a surveillance photo shown on WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News, Wednesday evening.
According to a news release, Michael Ray McKee, Jr., of Jackson, was spotted by a citizen walking down Chester Street, Thursday morning. The resident called police and officers identified the suspect and arrested him. Police said that McKee had some of the stolen property with him at the time of his arrest.
Police believe McKee is responsible for breaking the door of the Dodge store with a concrete block. He allegedly stole beer, cigarettes and lighters before leaving the store.
McKee is charged with burglary, vandalism over $500 and theft of property under $500. He is scheduled to be formally arraigned in Jackson City Court on Friday morning. According to police, McKee is on parole for similar crimes and, at the time of his arrest, there was an active warrant for his arrest for parole violation.
