Police Charge Man with Statutory Rape and Incest

JACKSON -- Jackson police have charged John David Jones, 37, of Marshall County, KY, with statutory rape by an authority figure and incest involving a 17-year-old girl.

Jones was arraigned at 8 a.m. Thursday in Jackson City Court, and his bond was set at $75,000. He remains in custody at the Madison County Jail in lieu of bond.

On Oct. 10, the girl's mother reported the allegation to police. Investigators learned that on Oct. 6, Jones and the girl had sex while staying at a Jackson hotel.

On Oct. 11, Jones was arrested by Kentucky authorities and held as a fugitive.

Jones later waived extradition to Tennessee, and Jackson police transported him back to Jackson.

This case was referred to the Tennessee Department of Children's Services.

Jones' next scheduled court appearance is 9:30 a.m. Oct. 24 in Jackson City Court.
