Hardeman County Man Robbed at Gunpoint, Carjacked in Jackson Park

DOWNTOWN JACKSON -- A Hardeman County man was robbed at gunpoint then carjacked in a Jackson park,Tuesday.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to North Park on Demonbreun Drive. A 19-year-old Pocahontas man told officers that he had met Andrew Taylor,19, on a social media website, and the man had come to Jackson to meet up with Taylor.

The victim drove to Jackson, picked Taylor up, and they went to North Park. When they arrived, Taylor pulled a gun and robbed the victim of his cell phone, cash and took the victim's car. Officers recovered the car later that night at a vacant house on Leewood Cove.

Taylor was arrested Wednesday evening and transported to the Madison County Jail.

Taylor, of Jackson, was arraigned Friday morning in Jackson City Court on charges of aggravated robbery and carjacking. Taylor's bond was set at $100,000, and he remains in custody at the Madison County Jail in lieu of bond.

Taylor's next scheduled court appearance is 1:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in Jackson City Court.
