Police Investigating Death on Turtle Creek Drive
JACKSON, Tenn. – Jackson police are investigating the early morning death of a man at his home.
According to a news release, first responders were called to a home in the 100 block of Turtle Creek Drive just after midnight, Tuesday. Investigators said Scott Alexander Martin, 29 was found unconscious and had apparent head trauma.
Martin was transported by ambulance to Regional Hospital of Jackson, where he was pronounced dead at 1:04 a.m. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner's Office in Nashville to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
Police said Martin and his 26-year-old brother, who also lived in the home, were the only two people present when he suffered the trauma. The brother was questioned by investigators and released. Police believe the pair had a verbal and physical altercation before Scott Martin’s death. Alcohol was believed to be involved in the incident.
Police report they have consulted with the District Attorney's Office and made them aware of both men's actions leading up to the death. The investigation is ongoing as investigators await autopsy results. At the conclusion, police plan to present their findings to the District Attorney's Office to determine what, if any, charges should be presented to a grand jury.
