Police Investigating Shooting, Robbery in Dyersburg
DYERSBURG, Tenn. - Dyersburg police are investigating an attempted murder and armed robbery of several individuals that occurred minutes apart.
According to a news release, at approximately 12:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, officers responded to Sellers Drive after it was reported that a man had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a 21 year old Dyersburg man suffering from at least two gunshot wounds. The victim told officers that several black males approached him and opened fire on him as he sat in a parked vehicle. Officers and investigators said that more than a dozen shell casings were collected from the scene.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Dyersburg Regional Hospital, and later air lifted to the MED in Memphis.
While still on Sellers Drive, a woman approached officers and said she had just been robbed at gunpoint on Maxey Drive. Additional officers were called to the scene and found that three individuals had been robbed at gun point.
The victims reportedly told officers that they were in their car driving down Maxey Drive, when they drove past a group of black males standing on the side of the road. As their vehicle came to a stop, the thieves allegedly ran over to their car and ordered the victims out at gun point. The victims said they were forced to the ground, searched, and cash and the car keys were stolen. The men escaped on foot from the scene of the incident. None of the victims were injured during the robbery.
