DYER, Tenn. - Police in the City of Dyer are investigating a late Friday morning stabbing that sent a man to the hospital.
Officers were called out around 11:30 a.m. to an apartment building on East Maple St. The apartment sits near Dyer School. However, the school was not put on lock down. District leaders said the action was not taken because officers told them students were not in danger.
Some parents were still concerned. "Kids play right in the playground all day," said Lucas Ware. "He could have easily grabbed on of those kids and hurt one of them too."
Others said the incident will make them much more vigilant in the area. "I'm going to have to start keeping a closer eyes on my kids now that this has happened," said Michael Rodgers.
Neighbors said the victim was airlifted from the scene. The extent of his injures is not known.
